Sweet Blankie

Today

Arden has a security blanket.  The blanket has a name; it's called "Sweet Blankie."  Sweet Blankie is a girl.  Sweet Blankie has feelings.  Sometimes Sweet Blankie is happy.  Sometimes she is sad.  Sometimes Sweet Blankie is sick.

Arden has other attachments:  Sweet Minnie, Pinkie, Elephant, and Hippo.  These four friends along with Sweet Blankie sleep with Arden at night.  Sweet Blankie is by far her favorite, though.

Arden's blanket is from her crib set, and she has slept with it since she was old enough to sleep safely with a blanket.  Her attachment to her blanket started almost two years ago.  She will tell you that she loves Sweet Blankie because it is soft and cuddly (and sweet, of course.)  If Arden is watching TV on the couch, you better believe that Sweet Blankie will be right there with her.  If I would let her, Arden would take it everywhere, but we try to confine the attachment to home (well actually Sweet Blankie had the privilege of going on our cruise.) 

When Sweet Blankie gets dirty then I have to make sure to wash it and dry it promptly;  otherwise I will get asked "Is Sweet Blankie dry yet?" a million times.  Every time I wash Sweet Blankie I worry that it will fall apart.  Thankfully it is an excellent quality blanket and is still holding up.  It has survived at least a hundred washes.  I occasionally search online to make sure there are replacements for "Sweet Blankie" if need be.

She walks around the house with Sweet Blankie in tow.  She looks like Linus from The Peanuts because she drags it behind her by the corner. 

Sweet Blankie's name has evolved.  It used to be called "Danket" because she couldn't say "blanket" properly.  "Danket" turned into "Blankie" and somehow "sweet" was added about a year ago.  

If Arden is feeling sweet herself, she will share her Sweet Blankie with you.  Otherwise you better get your own blanket! 

None of these pics are intentional.  I was just looking at Arden on the couch this morning with the blanket and decided to find older pics of it.  Sure enough Sweet Blankie routinely makes her appearance in past pictures.

Santa brought her a purple princess couch/bed.  The first thing she did was lie down on it with Sweet Blankie. Christmas morning 2011.
