Lake Conroe Summer Vacation - Part 2

The first few days of vacation at the Lakehouse were spent sitting inside watching the rain, sleeping, eating, and watching TV.
Brian and Jack hanging out on a rainy day.

When the sky cleared we would sneak outside and take advantage of the few minutes of sunshine.  The girls would fish, ride their bikes, and go to
the pool.

The rain stopped enough for Arden to get in a bike ride

On our first boat outing we weren't sneaky enough, though, and the rain came pouring down on us while on the boat!  We left the house with the sun shining down.  Within the twenty minutes we needed to get the boat out of the marina the sky became overcast and very dark.  It started with just a sprinkle so were hoping it would pass.  We hid under the boat canopy, but that didn't offer much protection as the wind started blowing.  Then the temperature dropped about ten degrees and the sky opened up.  We got soaked!  You may be thinking, "What does it matter?  You're on the boat in your swimsuit and you plan on getting wet anyway."  Yes.  Except EVERYTHING got wet... the car seat, our dry clothes, my beach bag.... all of the stuff that was suppose to remain dry, didn't.  This was Jack's first boat ride. He spent it blinking while the rain splashed him in his face.  Thankfully Brian was smart enough to put our cell phones in a plastic baggie.  If I wasn't worried about ruining my phone I would have snapped some shots of this memorable boating experience.

With it being our first outing, Brian and I had not yet developed an efficient routine of getting on and off the boat.  When we pulled back into the marina the parking lot was flooded.  I hurried to get the little ones under the building cover and lost a flip flop in the torrential waters.  At this point I've got a screaming baby, a screaming three year old, and a stressed out husband.  What a mess!

Thankfully the remainder of the boat trips were better than the first.  The girls got to ride on the boat several times and got to go tubing.  Jack liked the the boat, too.  His life jacket wasn't comfortable for him, but once the boat started going, he would forget about the jacket and enjoy the ride.
